Winter time is the best time for spotting Southern Right whales migrating to the coastal waters of the Western Cape to mate and calve. The Point area, Dana Bay and the St Blaize hiking route provide great vantage points for whale watching. Look out for the following in order to spot whales: blowing, a majestic leap out of the water (breaching), slapping of tails on the water (lobtailing) and heads lifted out of the water to look around (spy-hopping)
